Exclamation Dang That HURT!!

i was taking the Rx-7 for a little ride to the bank the other day since it was soo nice here in ohio. well i started the engine and was letting it warm up, so i popped the hood to make sure everything was ok, then is when i noticed a lose sparkplug wire from the distributor. so i thought i'll just push it back down ZAAAPP it got me bad rright through my arm and out my elbow to the small spot of rust on the fender. it actually broke the skin on my elbow, and gave me a spaced out sensation for about an hour

that was my ouch for the day

Well, "Sparky" betcha won't do that again!
I'm kind of a "spark magnet" when it comes to touching ignition wiring. Once, I didn't even get ahold of the wire when I saw a blue arc jump about a quarter inch to my fingertip! Needless to say, I don't do "live" ignition wiring on my car anymore!

And once, while riding my motorcycle in a rain storm years ago, my right leg (wet jeans and all) brushed against the sparkplug wire. HOLY HANA! That was shocking! Traveled from my right knee to my left knee and all the parts in between!

Im in the process of fabricating a headlight for my motorcycle using an HID projector assembly from a BMW 3 series and I accidently touched the high voltage lead to the bulb as I was turning it on once. That hurt as much as yours I bet . I like the warning on the ballast:
!DANGER!
MAX OUTPUT: 35,000V
WILL SHOCK, BURN, OR CAUSE DEATH!!

DOT Approved

got a friend, his name is Dave... he's on the forum, but I don't want to embarrass him by giving away his forum name.

Anyway, I sold him an engine- he pulled the exhaust off to check out the apex seals. (they were good) He was using the flywheel to spin the engine over. In the process of doing so, there was so much compression that when he got past the compression stage, it went forward and sliced his finger open. He still has a nasty scar from it!!! He should have got stiches, but...

When i got my first 7 back together I had hooked the throttle on the carb incorrectly and when i started it up the throttle was stuck wide open it wound up to about 11k rpms, my ignition switch was useless, i tuned the key off and nothing happend it kept running!!!!! My dad reached in and pulled the trailing and leading plug wires off and got blasted accross the garage.....shut the car off though.......all i could do was scream....15 years old and I thought $2300 worth of saving and work was down the drain.......It worked out, my dad's hands were burn bad though....

LMAO..

Sorry to laugh; has happend to me more times than I care to remember..

At least it was a stock ignition(was it?).. Try grabbing a box fired aftermarket coil.. Its kinda freaky.. You can actually feel the multiple sparks..lol

I made the mistake of using a marker to plug a pressure line of some sort at one point.... Started the car up and saw the marker go flying like 30 ft into the air... Damn am I glad I was *inside* the car!

once when i was testing out my coils, i pulled the trailing coil wire (to the dizzy) and started the car up to see if i could see it arc (to see if it was working). Well i saw no arcs, and i thought "what if theres a safty mechanism that keeps it from firing when the plugs are out?". So with the engine still running, i pulled the wire from the leading coil, and holy ****! i swear my heart skipped some beats! That sucked a big one that day.

haha ive done that

this guys integra, it was running funny, so we pop the hood, im talking on my cell phone and looking at the car when i see one of the wires isnt connected to the distributor, so since im talking on the phone i start to point to it, well that bitch arced about 6inches to my finger and sent me yelling and jumping all over the parking lot, but after pluging it back in the car ran fine...
