like a friggin retard i drained my tranny fluid before i got the filler plug open and now i cant open it. does it have a reverse thread on it or something cuz no matter how hard i try to get the thing open it wont budge. how much force will it take before it breaks off? any suggestions would be appreciated.

as i recall its a 14mm square head ohn a really thick plug.. its forward threaded, so no worries there.. use the proper wrench on the square head.

try using a torch on it (even propane).. the tranny housing is aluminum, so itll give up the plug real quick with some heat on it. i know theres not much room to work in that specific area, good luck!

edit: oh yeah, the plug wont break... you could jack up the car on it.

Make sure you have a close fit on the wrench not an old beaten one, then use a sharp blow from a soft hammer and it should give, if not then use a piece of pipe to extend the length of your wrench handle.

yeah, more good advice! anytime you can get a cheater bar (read: long, strong pipe) on the end of a lifetime guaranteed tool (mastercraft) - DO IT!

thats how my girlfriend Suggah (the lovely, 125 pound latina girl who owns our car) removed her transmission, mostly by herself.

when I did my fluids I did the same thing....pissed me off something fierce...I ended up using the cheater bar method, after yelling enough obscene vocabulary to suit the mood

nothing works better than my 2 foot lead pipe that I use to torque stuff on and off...go find yourself a lead pipe and hook it on the end of a rachet or something...I've tried some stuff with full body weight and it wouldn't budge but with that bar its like a hot knife through butter...

Its a tapered pipe plug so they can really gall on there.
Brute torque is about the only way to get them off.Heat will help though,a propane(plumber's) torch outta do it.When it does go,itll probably just turn, not pop since there will still be some resistance from the taper threads.I prefer them over copper washer plugs since they break loose smoother and your less likely to smash your hands.

Put some anti-sieze on the threads when you re-install the plugs, makes life easier the next time.

better yet, do what dodge did on the 2.5L daytona 5spd's in the eighties: no drain plug, rubber fill plug on the end of the tranny..

and while youre at it: set tach redline for 6, power loss at 4 and engine exploding speed at 3krpm; but include cool electronic feature like a "trip navigator".
