DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! Just My Luck...

Ok, went out to start my car this morning. All went well, she fired right up, backed her out of the garage, got out to move another car, and on my way back to my car, what do I see...Nothing other than water coming out from under my car...DAMN IT!! I open the hood, and the water is coming out of the seam between the water pump and housing thingy, whatever. Im gonna put some RTV in there and call it good, but it just pisses me off. We just moved, and I have no where to work (not allowed to work in the parking lot...Damn apartments). I also have no tools here basically, and nothing to drain my antifreeze/water into. I need to reuse that **** if I can too, I just put it in yesterday and the **** was like $10 a gallon. I have no money to buy more .

~T.J.

PS - Any one have any tips for me on how to do this? I assume I have to drain the system...Is there anyway to get around this?

You shouldn't have to drain the system all the way. If we are talking about the same thing here. When I changed my thermostat, I had to drain the rad to that level. In all about 1.5 litres.

Pump to pump housing. I just drained it into washed out milk jugs, and then put new RTV on the seam and threw it back together. Took about 20 mins total.

Ok damn it...I mush have done something wrong cause after the 10 hours I let it dry, it still ******* leaked. I tore it all apart AGAIN, and scraped off the old gasket pieces I missed the first time (I was being lazy), and even did the pump housing to engine seal too. The gasket there was broken too. So, bascially I took the gasket off everywhere, and re-applied RTV to both seams. I REALLY hope this works, as I am getting tired of doing this, and I dont have ANY money for a gasket after the $111.00 to license the damn thing ...

Use HYLOMAR on anything that comes in contact with cooling parts on both sides of the gasket for sure sealing. The plus is theres no downtime like waiting for it to dry so you can fill it up once the parts are torqued down. See if there is anything that isnt smooth on the contacting surfaces and de-bur it with a file if needed.
On the water pump to front housing make sure that you have the 2 shims that go over the respective stud bolts or the pump with not mate up evenly and it will leak.

Yeah, well it was that gay *** orange GM DEXCOOL ****...If it still leaks this morning, its back to the auto parts store and getting some Hylomar and ordering a gasket. Thats part of the problem, I dont have a gasket . Im gonna have to borrow money for a damn gasket...Im due top get tires soo, and I cant even start the car to drive to get the fuicking things...And my water pump doesnt seem to have any "shims" anywhere...And Im pretty certain Im the first one to take it off.
