Dailly driver down!

Is it possible for one seal to get carbon locked? And If it is will it sound like a 4 cylinder with a dead cylinder? It has major loss of power but showes 105 lbs in front roter and 95 lbs in rear roter and chugs like a steem engine.

It's a 85 GS with just about 200k on the clock.

take out the front rotors plugs and rotate the eshaft by hand, listen for the swooshes (should be 3) then put the plugs back in, and repeat for the rear. if you hear 2 swooshes and not 3 then you have a dead seal.

WOW, thanks for that tip. The front rotor has one strong puff and two wimpy puffs, the rear rotor has one strong puff and one wimpy puff, no third puff.

I'm just messing around... I have a fresh 12a sitting here I'm going to put in this weekend. I just wanted to make sure the old one needed to be rebuilt.

I was going to suggest the Seafoam treatment, unfortunately that won't help your chipped apex seal. Definitely time for an engine rebuild/swap. Good luck with the new one, have patience and break it in right.

Say Hello To My Little Friend!

This engine is race ported and has 1000 miles on it, It has been sitting in my garage from when I took it out of the car it was in. I've been waiting for a reason to use it.

The old engine started to run funny while I was sitting at a red light. Guess it's true that a rotory engine can go at any time.

I need to change some stuff over from the old engine to the new one like oil cooler and temp sensor but I should have it in and running sometime tommorow.

The intake ports are almoste as long as my finger.

Nice. It's not often that you can be happy about a blown motor!

It's 4:04 am now, I've been at it for 12 hours including a trip to the auto parts store, trip to the mini mart for a pack of smokes, and a late night trip to walmart to replace that tool I broke.

What do you mean by race port? And what carb will you be running? That looks like a dream day to me

I had the racing beat intake and 600 cfm holly on it but sold it. I know where I can get the same setup again but with a 700 cfm holly, I'm affraid it will be to large.

This engine has huge intake ports and huge exhaust ports. I dont know any other way to explain it but to say it's race ported. It dosn't have any sort of bridge in the intake port so it's not bridgeported. It's not overlaped.

Now that I think about it I'd rather sell this engine and keep it stock. I have a good 12a here but it needs oil rings and it's not ported at all. I need to rebuild it. The car is to nice to hack up. That's why I have the GXL.

Ok, i went with the RB manifold and a Holley 750 DPR. I got the carb off of ebay and I want to freshen it up a bit! Can anyone give me some pointers on the rebuild?
