Custom TII Exhaust setup

I'm buying the stuff for my 3" single exhaust for my TII powered SA. I just ordered a RB 3" pre-silencer and going to make a custom downpipe.. What muffler are people using? Also does the 3" exhaust go over the rear axle or under? Thanks

I'm going tomorrow to have the rest of my exhaust finished. I have a 3"downpipe to a mangaflow highflow cat to nothing. So tomorrow they will be putting on 3" mendrel bent piping to a Mangaflow Race series muffler. I'll tell you how it sounds.

Cool, are you going to run it over the axle?

RB streetport version.....Primaflow basically.....but with more flow and sound than the regular RB muffler. Its JUST under the legal sound levels in CA,and its had no effect on my power output, all the way to 14psi.

I am running a custom down pipe to a sprint car silencer to a magnaflow race muffler. It is shorty exhaust so I don't have to worry about going over the axle. All exhaust is 3" and at the mufflers it is 3.5"

Borla XR-1 is a very nice sounding presilencer for a TII with 3" exhaust. Friend of mine has the Corksport 3" single on his 2nd gen TII, loud and annoying without a pre-silencer, the Borla makes a great note.

I'm also redoing my exhaust on my car, the stuff I have now is just too loud for me. The pic is from before I put a glasspack style muffler in the middle. FYI, that did just about nothing (imagine that...). Right now I'm thinking about cutting out the glasspack thing and putting in a RB presilencer. Any thoughts? I'd also like ot hear a clip of your car Steve if you have one.

No,sorry.
Its quietish, not much louder than most other RB equipped rotaries. The S5 turbo hotside makes it a bit raspier since the split runners act like tuned headers. But the catylist and muffler do a good job of quieting it down. There is no high pitched buzz,no turbo whistle and no weedwacker tone.It registers at 93db with 94db being the CA limit......thats at 4000RPM with no load.....under load and full throttle, she sounds like a jet engine and a wildebeast having sex!

Put in Dynomax bullet presilencers they are by far the best presilencers on the market and they're cheep.

My thoughts exactly. He is going to need something in the 18-24" length instead of that rattling coffee can. Even if it is stailess steel wool packed, that close to the turbo, it may melt into a little ball inside.

Holy smokes, I did not think that my exhaust would cause so many people to comment. I know that it is conventional for people to place 2 magnaflow mufflers. I thought that I would try a silencer and then a race muffler. I figured that I could always just add at a later date. I am sure that I will be adding more exhaust later down the road. We will have to see how she sounds.

I will be running an open WG

Muffler is SS. And the total length of the exhaust is about 3-4'

3" piping overdiff with an old HKS sport muffler and resonator, wastegate routed into the exhaust. Looks stock and it's pretty quiet, the turbo actually drowns out the exhaust while boosting. Here's a little clip: http://media.putfile.com/RX_rev

Don't have any pictures under the car but it sounds nice as hell. I had a similar set up as Z-beater until I got it finished. Yes it was loud but the turbo quites it down alot compaired to a N/A setup so its a drivable loud. However i'm very thankful I got my new setup!
