Custom Sub box for 1st gen no $$$ spared

Thought I would share a work in progress with my custom box and amp rack. The box will be housing a 12" JBL w6 powered by an alpine pdx 1.1000. The separates up front are boston pro60's powered by an alpine pdx 2.150. The box will be wrapped in the same vinyl as the lower part of the doors. I will post more as we progress. Enjoy

what kind of door speakers did you use? Also did you keep the speakers in the kick panels in the front as well?

Boston Pro60 6 1/2 separates. No speakers in the kick panels. The panels have been covered in vinyl for a clean look.

looks not bad, hard to see if you fiberglassed the back of the box or not. Id recommend somehow making it "an enclosure" vs just a slot for the sub to sit it.

I know in these cars its hard but itd definetly be worth the effort if you can figure it out and youll get way less rattle and way better sound if you can manage

make sure to take more pics (less blurry if possible) and let us know your progress/how it sounda

"looks not bad" like you could make a better enclosure? I think not.

The back is fiberglassed and it is a sealed enclosure. The entire trunk area and doors are covered in a dynomat material to eliminate any rattles. This is just the start and only the box completed. Amp rack and cover plates are in the works and should be all done next week.

Sorry about the pics they where from my iphone and it was starting to get dark out. Should have more pics tomorrow.

Not a huge fan of the tweeter placement... But other than that... it look really good...Did you use anything behind the door panel for the speakers or did you just screw them in??

Well actually custom sub enclosures is what ive been doing the past 4 years, so yes i think i could make a better enclosure if i tried.

In my saying it looks not bad i was taking into consideration that it was not in fact an enclosure which you have corrected saying it is. Its tough to tell that the back is in fact fiberglass and not just metal and obviously the dynomat will eliminate alot of rattle.

Thanks for the feedback and your insight. Just hate it when people chime in with no experience and knowledge of what they are talking about. With your experience its appreciated.

I would prefer not to say, but the whole stereo with alarm is in the thousands.

That looks good. My overall concept is very similar, only so many ways you can do it with these cars. My overall attention to detail will be what makes this project. No open spaces and everything will match and flow.

We installed my friends system into my fb...two JL audio 12" w3's powered by a sony 1000watt amp. No dynamat in the car b/c it was just for fun since his car is in the shop right now....but it rattled the back window really bad...how did you get rid of that?

While I'm not a fan of weighing cars down with stereo systems, and emptying my pockets in the process I still have to appreciate the hard work that you are putting in here. Great job, and keep up the hard work. Looks like it is going to turn out very nicely once its finished.

Like this: Except the sub is now ported! It's hitting around 143db.

My heart goes out to you. If I was not able to build this myself as you said it would cost many thousands in just labor!
