So Far, Dead stock...

That's why I started this thread, to get nice ideas.

I've thought of doing my center console and
areas around the stock gauges in CarbonLook

That way I wouldn't feel bad about going with an aftermarket Head Unit, and making more room for some aftermarket gauges.

I don't like the carbon look. I would like the same setup witha real layer of CF. the fake stuff just looks, well, fake!

I agree. That's why I've "thought" about it. Real CF is MUCHO $$$$.

I have heard though, that CarbonLook with a clearcoat spray over it looks just like the real thing.

I've PM'ed several members on the forum who list CF as part of their mods, but none will send pics

Oh well. Again, I am looking at all the options, so come'on people..

POST'EM.

You don't have to go the whole carbon shebang to make an aftermarket headunit look correct...here's my proof...this is my car...by...the...way...

I won't show the rest of the interior 'cuz I still haven't cleaned the bitch!! Rowlf!!

Looks Good Mar3!

I agree on the 79-83 RX-7's, the stock console does look great, and any aftermarket radio would look better than stock.

However, Mazda did a great job to update the 84/85 interiors with new styles, colors, and a 2 1/2 DIN sized brushed aluminum radio.

Problem is, aftermarket head units (usually black) stand out horribly in the large 2 1/2 DIN sized opening.

Other Radios are also brushed aluminum look, but they light up in blue, green, or Rainbow colors. This takes away from the simple & elegant factory look.

There was a thread on this not too long ago.

HOWEVER, we all want top quality sound, and to spice up our interiors, so that's why the topic was started.

Besides, I want the package, Gauges, Radios, Lights, Gizmo's and more...

Any Tips, Pics, or posts will be appreciated!

Off topic:
Hey, didn't the 79 + 80's come in GREEN Backlighting? As opposed to the newer RED/Orange?

you could always go with a ony explode,
brushed aluminum with red lighting,
looks pretty good.
my radio is an old school pioneer,
even though i dislike pioneer
i knew the radio would be a perfect fit
with a little room below it for switches
plus the back lighting is orange
matches well.,
but now that my gauges are red
i'll probably get a sony
