Matty's first 1st Gen

I have some pretty serious rust in my door jamb, abouve the top door hinges, it pretty much goes through in a few spots, I'm wondering probably the only way to fix this would be grind it out, and weld in some new metal?

any ideas or experiences?

i hope i'm not the only one with this problem
