MI Cruise control.

My cruise control has quit! I have no idea where t start on it.Got to be fixed along with the horn and a brake that started squeelin. Brakes and horn I can fix ,but anyone have any ideas about the cruise???????? Bob

check the vaccume lines....fuses...and that it moves freely. hopefully others will chime in

After checking all of the items mentioned above. Remove the left side storage bin and check the cruise control computer. It is the gold colored metal box fastened to the floor with two screws. Remove it and bend the four tabs to open it.



Remove the two screws holding the board in place.



Check and clean these traces and connections. Make sure the corrosion is not causing a short between solder points.

On that note, be sure to check the master switch, to make sure it actually works. Old switches are known to fail.

There is also a switch on the brake pedal, and another on the clutch, that will disengage the cruise when either is depressed. And there is a solenoid in the rat's nest, check the rat's nest removal thread in the FAQ to find out which one it is.
