crossed jumper cable
yesterday my car battery died when trying to start car before work. i asked my brother to help me jump start my car. long story short, it was crossed. when tried to start up saw some smoke from engine. pulled the burnt main fusible link. had to take the trick to work. today i triedbout a fuse for the car and started up with a jump start. all the lights turned on, guages are all reading.
PROBLEM:
- radio turns on but doesnt work. reads the stations tho.
- clock turns on only when engine is on, but when radio is on, clock turns off.
- hazards doesnt work.
thats all i can notice so far. i didnt get a chance to check my under dash fuses yet cuz its dark.
i did a search and found that it is very highly possible that the harness is fried (2nd gen post).
any input would help me
thanks in advance and pardon my idiotic brother.

do a search for flasher box, kinda like a mini ECU that controls the clock, flasher lights and a few other things, its located up and behind the fusebox on drivers side and its a mega pain in the *** to get out! (ive removed 3 of them now to swap into other cars) find a parts car and remove it. take some time, 10mm socket, extension, universal joint and a 10mm wrench, it should come out pretty easy.
i cant say its that horrible to remove, its just so compact up in there its a pain. that really sounds like your problem. check all other fuses and wiring first ofcourse.
g'luck man
