Crazy, stupid, or just might work. (Suspension)

Ok. I have a 79 GS sitting on my front lawn. Now I used it last year as a winter car and now want to turn it into a semi rally car. I do not plan on racing but I will be using it to do some traveling on highways and then dirt roads to get to some great camping sites. Now I happen to have the front and rear sub frames from a TII second gen. Plus a differential. The first gen doesn't have independent suspension, which would be better for this cars use. I was thinking of fabricating the second gen suspension into the first gen. I know this sounds wild, but when I was in high school we put a BMW rear sub-frame in a chevette race car and it wasn't that hard.

So does anyone know if anyone has done this before?
I would love to here some opinions or idea.

It's been done, and the benefit is minimal if it exists at all.

I asked about this a few months ago and everyone seemed to shoot it down. I still think it would be sweet to do. I wanna do it someday. Hey peejay; are there any pics of the ones that have been done?

I'll try to dig up the info. It was done sometime in the '80s so info is hard to find on it (who'd want to put a failed project from 10-15 years earlier on the net?)

Well I have all the parts so and for driving fst on uneven dirts having the posi and independent rear suspention would be of use, but I would like to take a look at it if some one has any pics, I like to see exactly how involved this would be. Thanks

How involved? Cut out the rear floorpan/suspension mounting from the FC, cut out the floorpan from the SA, and graft.

You guys want a IRS pretty bad huh?

Well take this for instance remember when 'rustangs' went to IRS I forget the year, but they lost like 30 hp just in drivetrain loss alone.. Good luck
