Talking Crapmaro VS Me.

So, I was driving down a normal city street here in Spocompton, WA (Spokane). This guy in a late 80's Camaro pulls up next to me, revvs his engine, scoots up, drops back, etc.. trying to get my attention.

He probably saw the big sticker on my back window that says "1.3 Liters of Fury" and wanted to see what it could do.

I look over, nod, he revs his engine and it lunges forward a bit and lifts the front end up slightly. I look over, shake my head. He gives me a look. Mind you, we're driving at 35 mph here... So, I drop down to 2nd, rev up to 6,500, drop the clutch and burn some serious rubber. At 35 mph!!!! He pulled back up to the side of me looking at me like It was AWESOME!!

Damn, I love this Sterling Carb!!! Never could have done it before without it!!

You would have killed him. Those 80's camaro's suck. They are not that fast. On a good day, a Z-28 will make mabey 220hp. Not much when you consider the car weighs in at more than 3600lbs.

4 port 13b with a Sterling carb, all emissions removed, RB Street port exhaust. E-fan, cold air.

The mid to late eighties camaro's are pigs when it comes to weight. The late 70's early 80's camaro's aren't as bad, but they had VERY little power. Something like 150hp in the Z-28. A regular camaro with the 305 only made 130hp. They weighed about 3300 lbs too. The camaro up till the mid 90's just sucked overall. There were a lot of cars that would walk all over a camaro. My friend has an 80 berlinetta, its sucks ***. It has a swaped 305 from probably a caprice judging from the small 2 barrel carb, but it can barely light up the tires on wet pavement. i figure it makes 50hp.

I've got several four port 13Bs. Maybe I should send Sterling one of my Nikkis?

I'm sure with proper tuning, and the exhaust, a 12a would be able to do the same.

You know what Anthrax, thats true. All my friends are into V8's. Along with just about anyone else you talk to. You and I will have to show those V8 guys just how fast a rotary can be. BTW, if anyone is selling a used turbo out there......I might want it.

Like I said, Late 80's camaro's were the heavyweights of the time. Even most buicks weighed less than a camaro. Also, that 2.8 V6 has barely enough power to move the car. I see no sport in that. And they dare call it a sports car!!! Yeah right.

Like I said, the numbers are in favor of the 7, no matter what year against an 80's camaro.

surely everyone here isn't totaly against v-8's. don't get me wrong, i LOVE the rotary, but who wouldn't want a '67 vette, or a gto judge? v-8's are just like rotories in a lot of ways. if you know what to do to them, they can be very fast. i do have to agree that most v-8's after the 70's sucked bad because of emmissions laws. anyway, we can get away with racing sucky camaroes, especially through the curves, but i wouldn't even try to race a real american muscle car (especially one that is suped up) unless i had a great setup. i have to admit that good v-8's are cool, but the rotary is deffinately unique.

I never said I didn't like V8's. They are awsome, and the sound they make is just amazing. Just the pure power you can get out of one is amazing. Personally, I love the 69 Camaro SS or a 68, 69 Chevelle SS. Great cars, but way out of my price range. The only thing holding me back from putting a built 350 into the 7 right now is my love for the rotary. There is just something about it that makes me want to keep it.
