Crap ... somehow blew one of my Fuel hoses

This morning I was on my way to school as normal, went to go park in the first lot and no parking available, went to the next lot, there was some so I parked there. As I'm grabbing my backpack out, some guy tell me I think you're leaking fuel. I was thinking little drips or something. I look behind the car and massive trail of fuel, look under the car quite a little pool under there. So i'm looking around and it turns out the hose that connects to the fuel pump on the "out" side had a cut in there and started leaking. I trace the trail back to see hwo long it has been doing that and turns out not that long of a trail. What would cause it to burst like that? What type hoses are you guys using?

old rubber hoses split and crack all the time. very normal albeit unnerving. now that i think about it, it would be a good ideaer to use braided line for any hose under the car.....

had a coolant line burst on me once; some nice steam under the hood.

^^ lol .. that'll have to wait till tuesday ... see the thing is that I'm using new rubber ... I changed all the hoses when i changed my lines and changed the back ones again when i installed my Mallory fuel pump. Should I be using High Pressure lines instead of the low pressure carburated ones? even though its still low pressure

Use F/I rated hoses. Cheaper than steel braided but much strong and will last longer than the regular ones. Since I have been working on lots of jap old school cars, I noticed that those darn rubber hoses became plastic hoses and brittle due to age.

+1 on the FI hose. The oem hoses were very good in thier time to last as long as they have. I hate to pay the price for the FI hose and FI band clamps, but the carb versions of both are not the quality they should be.

alright so i changed all the rear end hoses to F/I ones ... Didn't know there was that much price difference though. It was roughly 10$CA per foot. I had all the ones in the engine bay compartment already F/I rated so i should be good now. Thanks for all the info.
