cranks but no start

cranks but no start

12a. ok so tonight i stoped to go drop off food at someones house. car idel....sputtered then died. gas in the tank was low but i didnt think it was low enough to actually die. so i got a gas tank put about 5 gallons in. still will only crank and not catch. its been sittin for two hours in between the last time i tried to start it.


any clue people?

i understand that but it was running then just quit. car has less than 50k on the clock

uh i guess you didnt get the fact i have read the thread. all that would be useful to me there would be the spark testing. ive been around cars long enough to know how to test for spark.

tried to i'll call it jump the coils on the side of the fender. it would seem like it wanted to start but still nothing. dizzy is good, wires are good, spark plugs are good. ignition switch maybe?

air, fuel, spark, compression.

Is your air filter clogged or obstructed?

Is the engine getting fuel? in the right mix? Is it not flooded?

Is it getting strong spark at the right time?

Does it have good compression?

compression is good. fuel is good. airfilter is brand new well about 2k on it. dizzy looks good inside nothing is wet. its not flooded. spark plugs are good. theres just no power commin out of the spark plug wires

Ignitors can be had a the wreckers for a few bucks each and usually 25-45 from forum members. There is a way to test them in the FSM, if you want to build the simple curcuit. Link is in my sig line.

Do you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key to the on position?
If so, did you pull off the fuel feed hose and verify that fuel is coming out?

If you were not getting spark but were getting fuel the plugs would be wet and the engine would be flooded.

fuel pump is good. fuel is good. dried out the block and still wouldnt fire. the spark plug wires commin out of the dizzy are not sending any power to the plugs.
