A couple intercooler mounting questions...

Hey guys,
Well my huge FMIC arrived, which I bought new from a forum member. I am just looking at where the intercooler is going to go and how im going to mount it...

My first question, is it ok to mount a intercooler upside down? What I mean by that is the intercooler came with HKS painted on it, but the end tanks are wider on the bottom, and won't fit that way, also the 3" outlets are mounted way to low that way...

In order to mount the intercooler further forwards it looks like im going to have to grind off the oil cooler mounting bracket there. Hmmmm I still am going to run a FMOC, so im wondering if maybe I should see if the FMOC will fit under the FMIC. Or does anyone have tips for maybe mounting the FMOC even further forwards infront of the intercooler.

The reason that id like to put the intercooler further forwards is that I would like to fit a large 3" aluminum radiator in as well as a good electric fan.

Here is a couple pictures:

Thanks for looking!

It only flows air (and maybe some oil residue) so mounting position makes no difference.
Looks nice, about the same size as mine, which is plenty enough for a streetcar.

Upside down is okay. I would leave a few inches of space between the radiator and intercooler, so they can cool off better, and the rad wont heat up the I/C.

Dan,

I did a write up a while ago concerning a IC setup almost identical to this. The dimesions looked near identical to yours.

Took me a total of 2 hrs to build.

Here you go:

My setup is different now but this should still work.

Dan, mount the fmoc off the cross tube like I show in my 'How To' thread, then add ducting behind it to force the air that passes through the fmoc to go under the intercooler. The lower you mount the fmoc, the better flow to the intercooler and rad, mount it high enough to keep it from dragging on the street.
