Could we please help a brutha out?
Okay, what I'm asking for here is a 'checklist.'
My car had been sitting for a few months after the previous owner blew the carb (I'm almost sure this was the problem)
I bought a new carb, and, with the person's help (Thanks man!) put it back on, completely correctly.
Engine now does more than it used to. It WANTS to turn, but doesn't. I can hear the engine working (whirr, chug-chug, whirr), but it doesn't QUITE turn.
Could we give me a checklist of what to do to a car that's been sitting for so long?
I've already:
Changed the oil, gear oil, gasoline, air filter.
Oil/fuel pumps are brand new.
Spark plug ghetto test checks out (three strong piffs from lower spark plugs)
Electrical is all hooked up right, although that has little to do with it, I'm sure.
The stereo doesn't work though. Not stock, and I could have destroyed it
The gas pedal doesn't work. It has no 'grip' is the word I guess.
Anything else I could look for?

THE ONE. THE ONLY!

check compression. if compression is bad, dump some mmo down and let sit( look at the faq part)
check timeing
check to make sure gas is getting there.
or simply try to push start it once or twice at around 25 to 35 mph. just got a friends done like that, we knew everything was right, just didn't have the gump to start the first time, so we pulled it up a hill and let her go. dumped the clutch in second and it started right up after that.
good luck.
gas pedal doesn't work? gotta fix that.

Same question as above. Also, what do I do to get that gas pedal fixed?
Gas is getting there, there's gas in the carb
How do I check compression? Like I said, I tried the ghetto test, and it gets all three strong (using the bottom spark plug removal ghetto test)
How do I check it RIGHT though?
I guess I could try push starting. It's sort of in a pain in the *** place though
