cost for brake parts?

how much should i expect to pay for parts to get new brakes all the way around (pads and rotors)? any suggestions on inexpensive parts?

i was quoted $800 at les schwab for the job. i've decided to do it myself to save a few bucks as soon as i clear out my garage.

Hey it DEF shouldnt cost you anywhere near 800 unless they are giveing you all new calipers and **** too... You got rear disc breaks or rear drums?

I think rotors are like 60 a set and pads are about 40 a set... so...

that's 60 and 40 per wheel, right?

les schwab said that they were gonna have to special order expensive parts. like $120 rotors and $50 pads.

From Mazdatrix For

Set of O/E Front brake pads $41
Front Calipers are $136 each (2 required)
Front Rotors $65 (not sure if this price is for 1 or 2)

Set of O/E Rear brake pads $48
Rear Calipers are $176 each (2 required)
Rear Rotors $50 (not sure if this price is for 1 or 2)

So... unless they are also giving you new calipers your gettin ripped off i think.... also mazdatrix is know for not being the cheapest place around... but than again they ONLY carry quality stuff...

Got an idea...With $800 you could buy Setzep's Purple Seven that he paid $625 for, that way you get brakes and more along with a whole car!

Wish you lived out here. I'd shoe your hoss for $700 and use the extra cash to get stuff for my 7's. I put pads, rotors, and bearings on the front my GSL less than $300....Shoot, Son, pads alone shouldn't cost you any more than $20 to $30 dollars for the front, and near the same for the rear, if you have disk rears. What's wrong with your rotors? Why do you need new ones, are they measuring below spec? Anyways, if you're doin' the front rotors, do the bearings too, they also should be cheap. Reman calipers should be around $70 each....

'Ol Les must have a Corvette payment due to charge you that price...

Denny, from the 'ol corncrib...

yep - rotors are measuring below spec. my brakes make that metal-on-metal sound, so i figure it's time to swap out the pads and rotors.

if anyone has any suggestions as to a good distributor for brake parts, let me know.

So Lets see for the front were looking at worst case :
$41.00 + $136.00 + $136.00 + $65.00 + $65.00 = $443.00

and for the rear we have :
$48.00 + $176.00 + $176.00 + $50.00 + $50.00 = $500.00

For a grand total in just parts of :
$443.00 + $500.00 = $943.00

Which doesn't include the front wheel bearings or dust seals.

Got a feeling Les Schwab isn’t getting their parts from MazdaTrix

So back to the question, “Where you getting your brake parts?”

Side note: Total price would be for a worst-case scenario; you may not need all the items listed.

Thanks,

and does anyone have any suggestions other than rebuilding/replaceing for a frozed caliper? Can't get the front driver's back on to the new pads...

You didn’t have it on their, but would it be safe to assume your using a C-Clamp to push the piston back in? If you answer yes then the answer is no……Sorry.

Where did you get the parts??????????
