Hey all.

I assume a previous owner ended up mixing two separate coolants when adding some, as I’ve found a little bit of sludge in my coolant system. My water pump also had lots of rust in it, so I’m de-rusting that right now.

As for the engine, it has both some sludge and a little rust. What would you guys recommend I do? Can I just leave it, run distilled water through the system once I get the thing running, and wait a week or so before switching to coolant, basically the usual procedure?

That isn't from mixing separate coolants, it's just from not changing the coolant often enough.

That looks really clean for a 40 year old car (really clean for a 4 year old car actually) so I'd just top it off and go play.
