The joke, quite simply, isn't much of a joke at all. It's more of an annoyance. There was a time where once every week or two a new person would come in here, post the same pic of that car, and ask a barrage of questions about what "kit" that was and where to get it.
It's not a kit. It's custom.
Can you do it to your car? Yes, if you have enough time, money, and either talent for body work or a good bodywork guy who can look at a picture and recreate it.
Though why would you want to? The general perception on this forum is that the car isn't very attractive at all. The wing is hideous and the front end doesn't appeal to many of the people who are attracted to the 1st gen's style. I, personally, hate the car.
What makes it worse is that oftentimes the people asking about this car are nothing more than kit-happy civic ricer style teens who would rather slap a fartpipe and ground effects on a car than actually do any real work under the hood. They contribute nothing useful to the forum and just expect to be spoon-fed body kits and easy exterior mods the way the civic community is.
Not everyone... but many.
It will haunt us forever.

WAH those rims on the white rx7 are ****** ugly...im sorry...but seriously *puke*
i take the purple rx7 over the white one, i dont like wide bodies anyways. The wing on both cars definatly has to go.

Wow.. and after I posted that I thought "Geez.. that was a little harsh, that's gotta be the second-least diplomatic thread I've ever made".
Glad someone disagrees with me

Jon, in his usual outstanding diplomatic approach, pretty much hit the nail on the head. For a while, in particular after F&F first came out, every noob somehow managed to find THAT 7. Thinking it was the greatest thing since sliced bread with radial tires, they all wanted to know where they could get one.
Even though I own a widebody, and have a great respect for what it takes to build a car such as the 'Menace', to me and many others, it is no longer a 7. Way way.... overdone. Posting pics or asking questions about this car has become the apex of the noobness pyramid, just ahead of: "Can I turbo my...' and 'Where can I find bodykits?'
Just so everyone doesn't get the idea that I'm smarter, or better, I fell for the car too. Fortunately, I didn't ask about it, I searched instead. lol.

'Where can I find bodykits?'
That reminds me of the first time i visited this site, but rather than ask jsut about kits, i made sure to state my intentions of actually BUILDING THE CAR. You know...not just show, but go!
