coolant o-ring fix follow up (mixed results)

So, about a month ago I posted that I was trying the 0-ring fix using degreaser and copper weld on my 82.

Well, it seemed to work to fix the o-ring.

but it hosed my cooling system.

First day I really tried to drive it, I got massive overheating on the way home. I had to stop and let the motor cool intermittently and add water.

I suspect, from inspection during teardown, that the copper weld plugged both the radiator AND the thermostat (in addition to the 0-ring).

I've now replaced the thermostat, waterpump, radiator, hoses and flushed the system. The car's temp is now appropriate, and I'll give it another try driving later this week.

Scott
