Question Coolant low level light on.

ive got a series 1 with a 13b n/a, 48mm ida webber, exhaust system (with a silencer... ) and an ext bridge port...

anyway. i took the silencer out of the exhaust today... fired her up and everything was going fine...i never heard it without the silencer before....but everything was good... idled at ~ 1250 rpm (usually 1k rpm...idled reluctantly... ) and revved quicker...which was all good... it sounded a bit funny and the exhaust was spluttering a little bit more than usual...i revved it on and off to 3k....NEVER OVER and in ~ 8 mins after i started it the radiator light came on which was pretty weird considering we installed a new thermo switch for the fan and topped up the fluid....

we havent really had time to check it out yet so we will look at it later...

any ideas what the problem is?

btw....i put the "air deflector planel thing"(sits over the fan and just next to the radiator) on before i started it...when the fan kicked in...it made weird SCARY noises ....the fan was hitting the "air deflector planel thing"....and i didnt know....i thought the rotors were scraping on the housings.... i was proper S#ITTING MYSELF....sweating bullets....pretty funny tho....

Also check your sensor wire. If you moved around the radiator panel, you might have gone screwy on the wiring. if it detached or grounded itself, the light will go on. Believe me, I know

Do what Jeezus said, check the little sesor on the top of your radiator, I had the same problem about a month back, light kept going on, I replaced all the hoses, changed my thermostat, and flushed the system twice....lol all along it was m sensor, if you can't get the sensor or ground ring to stay in place (like me haha) you can do the ghetto quick fix which has held for me: cut the sensor off, and solder it and cover the solder job with duct tape. (works for me) luck on finding the problem, doesn't hurt to check your coolant levels

I just installed my new sensor today, with seal. 60 second job. Sensor cost me about $30 including tax.
