Coolant leak question.............

I've recently noticed a coolant leak around the area just above my header. It doesn't always noticeably leak but I can smell the coolant though; What the heck is it?

Failed/failing intake manifold o-rings, I would guess, assuming you have the stock carb and manifold. See any coolant on the topside of the intake?

If that's what it is, it's easy to repair but a PITA. Drain coolant, remove intake, remove old gasket, remove old o-rings, replace o-rings, replace gasket, re-install intake, refill coolant. You can do it without removing the carb but you'll need to remove the cables (throttle, choke, etc) to the carb and probably some electrical connectors.

You can block the coolant passages if you like, but do a search first. There are a few pitfalls, and you'll want to replace the o-rings anyway in case your plugs fail.
