I would feel stupid the first few months of having it. Not because of the mod or anything, but because I would grab the wrong end and attempt to pull it before I catch my self.

Kinda like how I went SA... then SA... then FB lol. I would pop the hood, go to the passenger side, pull it up... DOH! Other side...

Might as well do some lambo doors and a big wing at the same time.

you know if you keep your hood cracked open abit on the highway for example its actually very functional at letting the air out and cooling engine temperatures.

To answer all of you my reason for doing it is to be different by being the same. Dosen't make any sence to yall dose it? The bueuty of it all is no one would even know the difference except for rotor heads. Its nothing like the lambo doors or the honda wing. My whole philosiphy on mods is to make thim look factory. the only time a mod of anykind looks bad is when it looks like it was a after thought. I put this poll up to find out your reaction and I respect it I realy do but I thought I would have a little more support than this.

Ok I will be honest - straight forward - etc

My interpretation of a modification should improve something on the vehicle...H4 headlights for better vision / upgrading from stock suspension, chrome wheels for better bling....that kind of thing. What is to be gained by changing the way the hood mounts in this case? Except.....and I can relate to this if you read my intro when I joined...

You want to be different and still appear relatively stock...I give you 100% on being different b/c I have never seen this done / nor heard of anyone desiring to do this.

If YOU are happy doing it....do it! Afterall it is YOU who own it / drive it /

And will have to explain it to someone who buys it and wonders why the hood opens that way.
To answer your poll - I dont care for this mod

Actually for me I also see the way it sits stock as a safety mod. I've heard of a couple of cases where people forget to close the hood down properly take it out for a drive and the hood goes flying back into the windshield cracking it, along with it bending the hood, and cracking the hinges or bending them, plus probably some of the roof.

Also accessing all the parts in the engine bay that are closer to the firewall is easier like this.

Sometime when you're boosting cars it might help to have it like a normal car, but thats about it. But when you have relocated your battery to the back for better weight distribution, you've back to square one on it again.

trochoid how is this? I thought this was a car forum nor a F-ing spelling b.

To answer all of you my reason for doing it is to be different by being the same. Doesn't make any since to yall dose it? My whole philosophy on mods is to make them look factory. the only time a mod of any kind looks bad is when it looks like it was a after thought. I put this poll up to find out your reaction and I respect it I really do but I thought I would have a little more support than this.

All I was looking for is some one that has thought about this or tried it. In the end I really don't care what any of you have to say. It doesn't make any since to me how you can compare this mod to adding weight of chrome wheels of lambo doors or any of that other crap. If the porpoise of this forum is to make jokes than there is no reason for me to be here. I was hoping to actually get some impute not mouthy crap from some slack jaw yokels.

I have a 2nd gen as a DD, the hood opens 'normal' and it's a pita. There isn't near as much clearance as there is in a 1st gen.

Your corrections were also corrected in bold so you are not picked on for that as well when you move on to other forums

Sounds like a lot of work to change something that is perfect in the first place.

Cool

If I was to do a hood mod on a first Gen, it would be on these lines, full front tilt.
See pic.

Not a corvette fan, but this company knows how to go about designing a body kit.
This is a first rate operation.
http://www.crcoachworks.com/design.phtml

If I won the lotto, I'd comission 3-4 types of 1st Gen kits from the company that did the CRC 5 axis work on this covette project.

Anyway, just dreaming as usual...

Honestly? Don't change the hood, it gives you the advantage of not flying in your face and breaking your head on the highway.

Second of all, If you want it to be mor special look into something more like making the full front end hindge, or a stock looking vent.

You're idea is a decent one, but the advantages of having your hood open the way it does makes it far more desirable than the change that was made with the 2nd generations.

I did this the other night while out driving back roads, and it popped up high enough that it covered 1/2 of my windshield.

You are supposed to move your hood latch up from 4 holes to the top 2 holes then relatch your hood, stays open, cool and safe....

Don't laugh too hard, these pics were taken back in 05' before the coilover/flare conversion.

IMHO if the modification gains no performance benefit, don't waste your time.

And agine I don't care how many words I miss spell or how bad my gramer is. I don't need to hear from the spelling police. If this is all you have to do all day than you have a pathetic life.
