Converting Drum to Disk

Well i got a 83 LE and i want to convert the rear brakes from drum to disk, im not sure if this will work but want to know if i could take the caliper set up off an 84 and put it on my car. will they bolt up? do i have to change anything major?

The whole axle housing from a GSL needs to be swapped in. The rear calipers mount to tabs that are part of the axle housing. I suppose theoretically its possible to modify the drum brake axle housing to work, but its way more work than its worth. Just find a GSL rear end and swap it in, then you get rear disks and limited slip diff at the same time. If its your first time swapping axles it'll take you a weekend or so. You'll also need a new master cylinder, one specifically made for rear disks. Good luck, its definatly worth it.

well do the 84 gsl's come with lsd? i know right now my car has it in there and its a blast to slide around in on dirt.

Yes, when you do the swap make sure you get the right size flange for your driveshaft.
