Converted 81-85 to 79?

At first I was thinking that this was the sweetest rear end I had ever seen on a SA... But under closer consideration I think this was a 81-85 that they put 79-80 tail lights on and made a custom middle section (tinted of course),. Any thoughts?
I think it looks awesome!

Not sure.. the lack of a rear windscreen washer nozzle on the roof makes me think it's an SA, but the black keyhole on the petrol flap and the factory sunroof makes it look like an FB. Could be anything really, but I can't imagine why anyone would swap FB tailights for SA ones...

Looks like a modified SA rear to me.. The FB doesn't have the keyed fuel lid and the mirrors appear to be SA's as well. The taillights are definately SA...

I think only 84-85 have the rear squirter. My 82 didn't have one.

I'm guessing its a 1980 SA. Only the 79 had the small sunroof. Fuel door is lockable on my 80. I'm also guessing that the whole rearend has been reshaped. SA Taillights with custom middle plate. And the rear bumper has been modified for the license plate. Custom mirrors. Zoom in on the mounting.

My '81 has it, but it's an Australian assembled car.

I am still wondering who makes that kit. Its the only one I've seen with the side skirts matched with the widened front and rear.

Are you sure, the rear bumper is not from an '80. The '80s had two little rubber things vertically mounted on the back bumper.(not the huge aftermarket things around it's license plate) Looks like a '79 to me, but I'm usually wrong.

cause the SA tails are much much cleaner looking... I hate the FB tails, too busy.

If it's actually an SA (see note at bottom) i also think its an 80... it has mirrors on both sides, 79's only had drivers side mirrors (at least mine does, and my 80 has both mirrors, granted only the drivers side is ON... but there's mounting for both)... i could be wrong

by the way, those are NOT SA mirrors, they're ******* ugly and he should have just put SA mirrors on, my 79 has the large sunroof. Regardless, its a beautiful car.

note: it COULD always be a 81-83 (note the circular dash vent) with SA bumpers on it (because we all know they look better) and SA tails grafted on (which would be easier than making the 81-85 rear end look right with fiberglass). I wonder if we'll ever find out exactly what it is.
