color tune 500

has anyone ever used the colortune 500, that they sell in victoria british. it the test spark plug with a glass top that allows you to see the air fuel ratio. supposedly, you just adjust the carb until you see blue and voila the engine is tuned.

is this a good tool to get and idea how the engine is tuned (just for the stock carb nothing special). or is it a waste of money (only 59.95)?

thanks

It might be ok for a boinger, but there's no schrader valve to remove.

did a search and this is all that came up, i was wondering the same thing, its supposed to screw into the sparkplug, but how can it tell if its tuned by running 1 sparkplug, does it compensate for having 2? having some fuel issues, going to replace the fuel pump the try this thingy, just want to see if its worth it, or has someone tried it and found it worthless.

I suppose you could try it, but in reality, an oxygen sensor mounted somewhere in the exhaust close to the engine, hooked to an LED AFR meter will look cooler and you'll be able to check the air fuel ratio from the comfort of the driver's seat... while driving. Yes, you'll actually be able to drive the vehicle and observe what the LEDs indicate from idle to full throttle high RPM runs.

If that colortune thing is indeed around 60 bucks, I'd spring for an O2 sensor and a meter, personally.
