Talking cold engine warmup

I have a 1984 Rex with 12A engine of undetermined age.
I being a newbie would like to know how long to run this engine to warm it up from a cold start both above 32 degrees F and below 32 degrees F but not below 0 degrees F in order to prolong it's longevity.

Thanks Rotaries Forever and ever AMEN

First, make sure you're using the right viscosity oil for that temperature range.

Then, make sure you take it easy on the engine revs while your car warms up to the proper operating temp. This probably takes about 5 minutes of driving. I've heard that letting the engine idle for 5 minutes isn't the same so be careful of that.

Since we are on warm ups, I have a question too, my car used to let me pull the choke out and then start it, now i have to hold. did the magnet go bad?

i'm not sure about the choke question, but in general it is NOT a good idea to have your car sit and idle too long to warm up. One thing that happens is your engine warms up, but your drivetrain does NOT, so that can put a LOT of stress on things esp if you are a bit of a leadfoot (which I think all of us are) so, warming up engine for 2-5 min is fine, then just take it easy on the car for another 5-10 min to let EVERYTHING warm up. just my $.02

Make it $.04 USD. I concur.
