Cold air in vents???

Ok, here is my problem. It is below freezing outside and I'm getting cold air through my vents. My A/C is turned off and my vents are shut off on both sides. Is there some kind of vent door that isn't shutting all the way? Is there a seal around this door that is worn out? I am not sure where to look for this problem. Any help???

Yes, on the side vents theres a slider **** on each one. One position is fresh outside air, the other is Heat/A/C from the blower. At least on the 84-85's.

Just put the selector on the Defrost setting, so that little bit of cold air blows on the windshield instead of you. You could also put it on Recirculate. In the Vent position, the fan is off but high pressure air at the base of the windshield pushes its way through the system.

This is what I was talking about. I have both of these closed. My car is a '85 base model. I notice a significant increase in air (when on the highway) when the sliders are in the open position. So I know when these are in the close position(down). I still wonder about the door that these are connected to. Does it have a seal or foam tape around it? Does anyone know where this is located?

My system is on the defrost selector. Still have cold air through the dash vents even if they are closed at the vents themselves.

I haven't tried mine on defrost yet, but my 84 GSL-SE has serious airflow through the vents when they're closed as well....But strangely enough you can feel the heat from the engine too..so once it's warmed up it balances out : )

I think there was foam tape used as a seal. Either it has deteriorated or the flapper has become non-functional.

I know what you are saying. Its like hot air comes from the top half of the vent and cold air from the bottom half.
