coil wiring

Hi
I am helping a friend rewire a 79 rx7. It has points in the distributor. Alot of the wiring was damaged and is unusable. I need to know about the coil wiring. Does it matter if the trailing coil is powered all the time and never turns off ?. According to the manual he gave me, the trailing coil does not fire between 400 and 3000 rpm. The short and retard relays are no longer wired into the igntion wiring.

Thanks

get rid of the points, go electronic, I use the 2GCDFIS (Do a Search) on my 84 and am very happy with it, as for wiring diagram again search i think there is an online schematic

Switching to the electronic dizzy looses the on/off trailing feature that the SAs had, it was for emission, I think. All other ignition systems after the SAs have full time trailing.
