Coil-Over Questions to those who have them.

Coil-Over Questions to those who have them.
Part I:
I recently had Tokico 5 Ways and Eibach Pro Springs all around the car, with less than 5,000 miles on them.
Part II:
I just got my Rear End Swapped for a Ford 8.8 with a 4 Link and and Auburn Limited Slip, and Ford Motorsports 3.73 gears.
(I will be selling my GSL-SE Rear end, disc brakes, springs and struts soon, but I will not ship them)
By Doing so - I had to switch to full Coil-Overs in the REAR. It's not fuly adjusted yet, but the spring rates seem VERY stiff (Too Stiff).
Part III: (And the actual questions, now that you know the scenario)
If I currently have Eibach springs on the front, can I still use them with the front coil-overs that I plan to get? Or is there a "Coil-Over Specific" Eibach spring?

- Who here has Coil-Overs in the Rear?
- What Brand?
- And What spring Rates do you have on them?

- Did you have to weld anything on?

- Where did you buy them?
- And Finally - Are you happy you switched to them?

I have ground control coil overs.
i love them
they require welding to be used correctly.
it is very easy to do or cheep to have someone else do.
you just remove the strute tube/spindle do a little cutting and weld on a new perch.
I use tokico's as well. I think they are the best.
A special version of the tokiko is needed if you use ground control camber plates.
youll have to buy new springs but they cost a bit less than your average spring..

The front Coil overs require a smaller spring so yes you would need new springs. They are a 2.5" while the stock is much larger. When converting to Front coil over, you must grind off the old spring perch and weld on a new one that will hold the sleeve for the coilover set up. The rear set up i have is from ISC racing, its a 175# spring.
The cars are pretty stiff, but not unbearable at all...You just feel every bump in the road. The only downside is that with the coil over set up at the front, if you have aftermarket wheels, be VERY careful with the offset. One car has 16x7 with +42 offset and i cannot lower the car all the way at the front since it will rub, HOWEVER, the other rx7 with the stock wheels, can be lowered as much as you want with no fear of rubbing.
I forgot to meantion, the front coil overs are from Ground Control (they come with Eibach springs) and the rear coilovers are from ISC racing with some blue springs, not sure of brand.
But yes, i am happy i have the coil overs, except for the whole offset issue, but some wheel spacers should take care of that...
Hope this Helps!

Hey Directfreak,
I've swapped my rear end for an 8.8" as well, just had a couple of questions?
1) Why did you "need" to go for coil-over? I simply had the existing FB shock mount brackets welded to the 8.8" housing. They line up fine.
2) Could you tell me where you got your LSD and gears from, and how much they were?
Thanks
