Coil comparison; 2nd gen versus Oem stock

I removed the 2nd gen coil that I was running on the leading side to do some comparitive fuel economy testing.

Mileage with the 2nd gen coil and existing mods have been as follows.

Combination driving of mainly intown with some freeway driving has been in the 24.5 to 25.6 MPG range. Lowest that I have gotten with mostly intown driving and more spirited driving is 24.5 MPG combination. Highest I have achieved with all highway driving locked in with cruise control at speeds from 55-60 MPH is 29.2 MPG. The average MPG with mainly freeway and some intown driving has been around the 27 MPG range.

A 100 mile round trip with the speed locked in at 55 MPH with cruise control and approx 8 miles of stop and go intown driving with the OEM stock coil yielded only
22.9 MPG.

I am going to reinstall the 2nd gen leading coil and duplicate the same driving that yielded the 22.9 MPG.

Some pictures for those of you not in Snow Country. First snow that stuck to the ground. Got about 4 inches last night. Also took the 7 out for a drive in the snow for the 1st time.

It's good to know the 2nd gen direct fire mod can improve gas mileage. I always suspected that direct fire improves mileage, but now, thanks to you, we have proof.

My bro's GSL-SE did great in Fort Collins snow.
