Clutch not working... master cylinder failure?
Okay, so this morning I tried going to work, but after letting the car warm up for a few minutes and I couldn't put the car in gear. When I pushed the cluch it felt different than usual, and I couldn't change gears. The clutch still moved in and out.... it didn't just go to the floor. I popped the hood and checked the resevoir, and found that the master cylinder resevoir had no fluid visible. Last night the car worked fine, and it was only parked for 6-7 hours. Could there be a fluid leak? Would this by a symptom of master cylinder failure or just a leak in the line? I couldn't see any puddles under the car or anything, but I guess there is really not that much in there to begin with. Which is better to use for these cars.... DOT3 or DOT4? I plan to just fill it up after work and hope for the best.
Thanks for any tips.

Check inside the passenger cabin where the rod from the clutch master comes through the fire wall. If there is fluid, well its leaking. If not try and pull the boot back on the slave cylinder, if fluid comes out, well its leaking. These are basically the places where they'll leak but you might not notice it. Its a really short hydrualic ciruit.

Unfortunately if you tried using the clutch master with low/no fluid you could have ruined it... when no fluid is in it and the clutch is depressed to far the seals and seats inside of could have been ruined.... But I would check the back of all of your wheels, it may be a small leak and it sprays fluid when under pressure.... it would spray the backs of your tires and sit inside your wheel. Which would eat the rubber on your sidewalls. Also check the areas already specified in the last post...
