Clutch Hose to Slave: How many times can the crush washer be reused?

I'm replacing the slave, flex-hose, hard line and master.
My aluminum crush washer between the flex-hose and the slave has already been reused once. Is it OK to reuse again.

Can I use copper instead of aluminum?

Any and all responses will be appreciated.

If you heat a copper crush washer to dull red with a torch on a flat sheet of stainless and then drop it in a deep container of water it will re-anneal the crush washer to dead soft.

If the water isnt deep enough to cool it the washer will bend under its own weight when it hits bottom.

Its best to dress the crush washer flat on both sides before annealing.

I've annealed and reused aluminum crush washers too.

Here's a link...

Thanks for the replies.
There is not much left of the original aluminum crush washer to try and rehab. I was following the directions in the Haynes book.
Once I took everything out and apart, I realized my crush washer was very crushed.
I did find at O'Riely's a set of copper brake bolt washers. Two were the right diameters and thickness.
I think I'm good.

I'm sure someone else will take full advantage of your suggestions.

The crush washer for the clutch slave cylinder is aluminum and I never reuse them. They're cheap enough and I always replace the crush washer when I have the hose off of the slave cylinder. Typically when a slave cylinder fails, I will replace the hose and the crush washer as well. You can use a copper crush washer in place of an aluminum one, but I would replace that as well if it were apart for service. I wouldn't mess around with attempting to reuse it.
