Clutch and Brake Master Differences between years?
I've got a 11/80 SA that's already a bit of a Frakencar since it was previously used as an AutoX car that I'm resurrecting. Looking at Mazdatrix shows that the clutch and brake masters change part numbers every few years. What are the actual differences and are they are effectively interchangeable? If so which is the best? The car currently has disk fronts and drum rears. It's unknown what year this setup is from. I do plan on doing the Re-Speed drum to disk conversion. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. The same thing applies to clutch slave cylinders. Any info on those too?

Also SA has longer plungers for the slave and master.
You can put any one of the years on any car but the clutch engagment will differ about a half inch in pedal play due to the plunger link, hardly noticeable.
as for buying new one i use www.RockAuto.com they are way cheaper i got slave and master for 52.00 shipped.

Yeah I already know about Rock Auto. Been using them for a few years now for my other cars.
So it sounds like there aren't any real differences I should be okay ordering whatever since I know that there are course to fine adaptions available for the hard lines. I'll figure out if the car has course of fine threads and order an appropriate assembly then. Thanks everyone.

From what I've found through trial and error there are quite a few differences in the brake and clutch set ups. The clutch master cylinder is different from the 79 to the 80, and the hardline on the 79 is longer on the 79 to accommodating this. You can bend the hard line to work if your careful between the two to make it work but its not ideal, but the thread pitch is the same. 81+ clutch masters have a different different thread pitch and shape then the 79 & 80 and if IIRC from just looking at the difference between the two (SA vs. FB part) I just went out and bout one for the right year. The brake booster also varied between 79 to 80 to 81+........ etc.
In your situation I would order the correct brake master, clutch master and slave for a 1980. For your future rear drum to disk conversion Billy at ReSpeed sell the adapters to go from the SA to FB thread pitch. From my experience its a lot easier to just get the right parts in this situation, I didn't take this route the first time and it turned into a BIG learning experience.
