Clunking sound

I'm getting a clunking sound from the rear passenger side of my SE when I hit a bump, and I have had everything out of the back of the car and it still does it. Spare tire is bolted tight, it's not that. Hatch seems to shut securely. Anyone else had this problem?

I had a terrible clunking noise for the longest time. Went through the same thing as you, emptying out the hatch and all. Ended up being that my rear sway bar links had both snapped off.

could something like this be happening from the car being lowered? i have racing beat springs, and my car makes a clunking sound over big bumps, and i had the car on a lift the other day, and everything looked fine in the suspension.

Did you replace your shocks? Have you checked the bump stops? They harden with age and can break off too.

I trim the bump stops 1/2". If they are rock hard, Black Dragon sells new ones.
