Clogged carb
Ran 7 low on fuel today. Didn't run completely out but low enough that it started to stumble before i pulled off the road and shut it down. Unsurprisingly something clogged half of the carb. The jet closer to passenger does not seem to flow fuel. So i assume something got stuck in there somewhere. I unbolted the 14mm fuel inlet bolt thats closer to firewall, turned on fuel pump and a lot of fuel spilled. If i manage to turn the engine over idle is obviously only because one housing is getting fuel. If i open up the throttle fuel will flow out of all jets after about 3K rpm, which is odd.
So it seems all of the fuel line until the carb is clog free. This means i need to open it up and clean the valuing and fuel channels.
I haven't messed with the nikki before and even simple race kart carbs are out of my comfort zone.
Where should i begin to look for the clog? What do i need to remove?

When you pull the top off the nikki there are screens at the inlets and in the needle valves for
the floats. I would check all of these first and clean them out. It could be one of the bowl needle
valves is stuck closed (sounds like it may be the rear one).
Did you look in the bowl site glass to check the levels when its idling? That should show if one
of the bowls is not filling all the way.

I tried to look through the sight glass, but I couldn't really see anything. Its hazed up on the front and rear is too close to firewall to see in, but it also looks hazy.
Do i need to pull the entire carb off? Looking through the haynes and Carb manual they both talk about working on the carb on a bench, but i thought i could just unbolt the air horn from the main body.
EDIT I didn't want to bump thread. But i got it fixed! Thanks Tim, you called it! The needle valve on the rear float was stuck shut, it was causing the entire carb to flood. Probably lost about half a gallon of fuel on the trial and error. Something interesting i found or rather didn't find is that the screen on the rear fuel inlet bolt was completely missing. PO must have forget to put it back in during a carb rebuild.
Taking the air horn off was easy. Used a piece of cardboard to keep screws organized, poked holes over a little sketch of the carb. I think a total of 11 bolts come out. Nothing is spring loaded so it won't explode in your face. Feel a lot more confident opening these up now.
