Clock for center console? THAT I CAN SEE!!

Ide like a to find a clock to put in place of the factory clock. Since you cant read the LCD at night. Does anyone know of a backlit clock thats orange on black?? I looked at jegs.com, jcwhittney, summit. The closest i could find was a dumpy looking red on black for 45 bucks.

Any suggestions?

you cant see the clock at night? i know mine has a light that comes through the back, you might want to check if the bulb is burned out. i took the red nipple off the light so its white instead of red, i also did it on the "push" light on hte ash tray so they are both white, didnt like the red much.

Are we talkin' about 1st gen. clocks? I wasn't aware that there were LCD clocks, my '80 has an analog clock (which quit working) The '79 LE model had a neat green LED clock, though. -WG

Mine has a backlit LCD clock that lights up same colour as all the other dash lights (save for the blue/red of the temperature control dial) and with the centre dash console painted black metallic with clearcoat the orange/red clock, 'push' button, etc. look hella good.

Mines an 85. And it has a "quartz" LCD clock. Its never glowed, so i didnt know it was even suppose to. Hmmm..... Everything else glows though.... heat/fan dials, even the ash tray. When i took the faceplate off to install my cd player i didnt notice a bulb near the clock. I wonder if its just broken.

I have a watch but its a little difficult to steer and hold down the indiglo button at the same time. Besides, im trying to think of things my girlfriend can get me for christmas that arent really expensive.

Manntis, is it a factory clock?

So Anyway, Where can i buy a cool backlight clock to stick in there?

It's a factory clock. When you have the center console out there are two screws holding the clock in (they stare you right in the face). Undo those screws and look at the back of the clock. The bulb is in the back. All you have to do to get it out is twist 1/4 turn and pull it out. Then pull the bulb out of the holder and replace.
Real simple.

When I had my console apart, I had found that someone had it apart before me because none of my fan lights worked and stuff. Tunrs out, whoever put it back together just pushed the bulbs and sockets back into the center console without putting them back into the right places, so they were lost. One of them I managed to find simply by looking for it, but the other one was so far back in that mess I had to turn on the driving lights and hope it had a good bulb in it. It did, and it glowed showing me right where it was hiding. Im only telling you this incase you get the clock out and the buld hole is empty with no wires going to it, lol.
