Circle Track suspension upgrades

Damn you! They gonna let you run roundy round? What class? Can you provide your rules? Theres alot you can do, depends on whether its legal or not. Shift as much weight as possible to the left side for starters. If the suspension upgrade on my website is legal, I suggest you do it. Get adjustable shocks/struts if thats legal.

Like Carl says need the rules for you class.
I ran several 1/3 mile races, all we could change on our Pro7 cars was right front spring increased to 650#(or something like that). The eibach spring is for sale BTW.
Make adjustments for the car to turn left when you hands are off the steering wheel.
Use a large steering wheel (stock 14.5 inch is good) cause a 13" steering wheel is so small you hands will be crossed up.
Let us know your rules.

here is a link to the exact
rules........http://www.evergreenspeedway.com/04hrules.htm
This is a REALLY low cost way to get into racing so i dont want to spend hardly anything. Im looking for things like adjustment i can make, things i can do to existing suspenion components etc

Carl,
Excellent rear suspension tips. How would you rate the improvement over stock -- on a scale of 1 to 10? (with stock being a 1 and a tri-link and Panhard rod setup being a 10)
Thanks for the compliment. It's culled from much research, reading and trial and error.
I'd rate it a 7

those saftey rules are very leiniant.
mufflers!?!?!
sucks they do stuff like 70 series tires and higher, most tracks just reqire steel belted radials.
Do you run the entire circle or they use other parts of the track?
I like running on the dirt better.
fall before last they had a 100 lap cruiser enduro on our 3/8 mile dirt track, any cars with stock bodies and only 2 barrels on v-8's, no posi-track(i cheated, like everyone else) it was probably half v-8's and the other half 4&6 cyl.
74 cars started! 12 finished. my 79 placed 7th.
i think there was one little slow civic, but all other cars were v-8's that finished. one hell of a race, wish i had video.
There are usally a lot of things you can do in the "gray area". most people at the track have no idea what they are looking at when presented a rotary. And since there are so so many different cars they have to differentiate what's what.
Tire pressure is an issue, on pavement I ran 2-4 psi less on right side. Immediatly after a race you will find tire pressure is higher on right because they get warm. get advice from other guys running supras and daytonas or other rwds. depending on how feindly they are you could learn a lot.
a word on defense and car preservation
if the racing is rough....
try to move that battery the front corners are very tender.
I would reccomend welding or bolting a large thick bar between the front frame rails. i put a huge bar onto the bumber struts then bolted the bumper to it.
try to hide reinforcement under the metal around the wheels, I used to have to bent the front struts back out every other time because they would bend in wrecks.
the half shaft's in the rear are easily bent also if wheels are hit from side. you may want to get spare control arms for the rear as they are easily bent.
make sure you reinforce the drivers door very well.
rx-7's are very tought little cars, we used to jump one over hills on the farm. you wouldn't believe the stuff i've ran over and through.
have fun!

Looks really strict. Does the tire rule mean they must all be the same size? No Stagger allowed? Use a heavy cell and mount it on the left for more rear weight bias. I cant think of anything else that would be Legal.

Use bigger diameter tires on the right side (specially the RR) to help the car turn in the corners better and to get more grip on the right side (most loaded tires). Thats stagger.
It says you can use a fuel cell. Make a nice heavy mount/cage for it. Thatll increase the rear weight bias. Also mount it as far left as you can.
One more thing you can do thats legal. Get the left front tire as far to pos camber, and the right front as neg as possible. You might want to set it up with split caster as well.
