I think your outa luck unless you swap the engine..

1st line under body/chassis

Cars must be 1962 or newer sedan or truck with four cylinder engine.

the engine is going to kill you. doesnt look like they have any classification on the rotary.

many circle tracks, at least in the midwest, have rules outlawing rotaries(actually in the same section that outlaws forced induction) unless its an exhibition/specialty race(just for show). the rules up here aren't exactly the same as in NM, but they should be similar. i just think the piston folks are scared of rotaries walking all over them at the track, sort of how honda is trying to get rotaries taken out of the all motor import classes in drag racing, b/c they cant keep up

It'll probably be ok until you start winning, make sure before you gut a car.
I've raced asphalt and dirt, was fun for a while.

no rotary
for some reason (power curve? rotational inertia?) rotries supposedly are inherantly better on oval tracks
at least that what ive heard

I honestly don`t think the 1st gen has a serious advantage in that class. I have raced that style before and so has jorx81. There was no serious *** whoopage. A second gen would be another story. Sneak a ported rotary in there, though, and you will have problems if you start to win a lot...
I am sure there isn`t a rotary section because not too many have tried it. Nobody is going to take the time to write a ruleset for rotaries for just one or two guys.
I am sure if you ask them they`ll let you race as long as you pass tech. Just call them up.
Outside of that, so far as recommendations go..
Make the car as light as possible, add extra armour in the right places to protect you, depending on how rowdy the other racers are. They were pretty aggressive where me and Joe raced. Had to fix **** every week. A roll cage would be good. And, of course, remove all emissions and tune it as best you can. Oh, and be sure to run an open exhaust manifold, people love it at the track, haha.

Why do they have This as the first rule and then back it up with you have to be 16?

# Must be at least 11 years of age.
# no one under 16 years old will be allowed to drive in this class unless you turn 16 after the season has started
