Choke magnet

When the choke magnet worked it would light the low oil light when disengaged. I repalced the engine and starter (old engine was smoking pretty bad). Now the choke does not work, it will not stay out, but the oil light does not come on now. The oil lights do work though. Does anyone know if the choke magnet is powered by a fusible link wire attatched to the starter? Thats what it looks like in the manual. The temp. sending unit seems ok when tested with an ohm meter. I do not think I am getting any power to the choke. I must have disconnected something or broke a wire somewhere.

The choke is controlled by the ecu, which gets it's signal from the temp sensor on the backside of the waterpump housing.

Probably, as in the wires that connect to the temp sensor in the back of the water pump housing. They are extremely easy to break.
