Question Choke does not rewind question

Just purchased a 1985 GS, stock with 12A. I had a 1984 years ago and the choke would rewind by itself once engine was warm. This car's choke appears not to do that. I have had not issues starting car; even in cool weather so far (crossing fingers). Choke pulls out but does not rewind? Is this even an issue?

It could be mechanical or electrical. I would start by moving the mechanism and seeing if it binds or if there's a missing spring etc etc. If it feels like the magnet is not releasing then it could be electrical.

You can grab the wiring diagram from

I have an 83 and all of the choke related stuff is in section B.

Mine did that after I was doing some work on top of the engine.
Happens I forgot to reconnect the temp sensor.

(Image shows rats nest, carb, and top radiator hose removed for clarity.)

I normally manually push the choke **** in as the engine warms to keep the idle down, at first below 2k, then below 1500. Then the electromagnet releases.
