As many of you know, Chip Ursu (Chips Motorsports) is no longer in business. This thread is not intended to defend or condemn how Chip conducted his business or his own personal life. Suffice to say that many people today are battling with their own demons.
Earlier this week, I received a random phone call from Warren MI, informing me that he had or knew where my 1980 Mazda RX7 was. This good samaritan (who in his own way was also a victim of Chip) took the initiative to track me down here in Canada.
On Saturday October 26th (my birthday), I loaded up a truck and trailer and made the trek to Warren MI. After a brief meet and great, I laid hands on my 1980 Mazda RX7. A quick once over indicated that some parts were missing, however for the most part the drivetrain was still intact.
With our weather and seasons starting to change, I will focus the next few days on taking a more detailed inventory of missing parts, and prepare my car for winter storage. I will most likely work on completing my 1983 Mazda RX7 13B GSL-SE engine swap before diving back into my original Renesis engine swap project.
A huge shoutout again to these random strangers who were instrumental in getting my 1980 Mazda RX7 back to me.

He did the same to me
I’m trying so hard to get in touch with him. Could you reach out to me please. He basically scammed my husband. Long story short, my husband sent him his motor and some parts, paid in full to do the work. we have not heard from him since the end of 2022. I’m also in Canada. I called the police in Warren and I’d have to go there and file a report. That’s my next step. My husband is just so devastated and at the point of giving up. His dad bought him his Rx7 when he was in high school. He passed away, he wanted to get it up and running again. I would literally do anything to get those parts back madi_l07@yahoo.ca

Hi Madeleine,
I’m so sorry to read about your husband’s experience with Chips Motorsports.
Your husband is most fortunate to still have the same RX7 that his dad bought for him while in high school. Unfortunately Chip has closed up shop. There are no assets, customer cars, customer parts or shop equipment remaining. For you and your husband's peace of mind, it might be best to cut your losses and move on with life.
Which part of Canada are you guys from? Do you know which version of engine and which parts were shipped to Chip?

I suspect your motor, like mine was either sold off or parted out to someone else.
