Check out my odometer

Hey guys,

Check out my odometer from today. You don't see this too often.I am not sure how to attach a larger pic,but maybe someone could help me.I wanted to take the pic while moving, but instead I just sat still, and revved the engine to 7K RPM.

haha, that's great!

ya, too bad you weren't going 7 or 77mph, but I guess that would be kind of hard to coordinate.

No he meant his ODO its strait 7s. And I know quite a few piston motors that can rev that high or 2 times that.

Huh?

Someone said that you should get rid of a car at 90K miles. Even if it lasts that long, the engine will be so worn out as to have any power or anything. This was my proof that many cars last well beyond 90K and the engine still runs strong.

Not hard to coordinate. Tape camera to dashboard, set 10 sec timer, punch it.

Too bad it's not the 7.

Something is wrong with that pix. It seems that there is no load in the rear wheels as in being on jack stands with no tires.

Actually it's on a straight stretch of downhill I-95 at 3 AM. Probably have a good tailwind too. Redlined in every gear up until.

How can you tell based on the speedo and tach?

I also had an empty tank and no cargo or passengers.

Tach should be higher at that speed.

Explain...

With a manual transmission, the engine is always hard geared direct to the wheels. (With clutch pedal up and barring a bad clutch of course.) So a certain engine RPM, denotes a certain wheel RPM. Wheel RPM being speed.

well, to get 7.7 on the trip odometer, and 77777 on the other one would be. at that exact point that you hit 7.7 on the trip odo, you have to be going 77 mph at 7000 rpm in a gear.

^^ Exactly what I was thinking.I wanted to have it read 77mph at 7K RPM while I hit all 7's on the ODO,but where I was,and the whole driving with one hand on the wheel, and trying to take a pick of the odometer at that exact point was pretty tough.I suppose I could have done it had I planned it out,but I just noticed the other day that I was close to hitting it,and on my way to work in the morning I saw it was most likely going to happen on my way home.I turned around, and headed back home to get my digital camera, and made sure my little pea-brain didn't forget to pay attention to the ODO on the way home.

As it turned out I went over to a local repair garage that I saw an old 73 RX-2 in great shape at last week.I finally met up with the owner, and talked about his car,and mine, and then when I left I had about 1.1 miles left before the magic moment,so I drove to an empty parking lot,and drove around in circles for a minute or so to get the ODO right, and then snapped a few photos.I liked the Tach pointing to 7 pic the best, and I thought you guys would like it.

I also have a picture of my 92 Dodge Ram with 222,222.2 miles showing on it from a few years ago.And yes the truck is still running, and I still own it,although I am selling it.The beauty of a Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Do you have a TII transmission in it or something? How is it going that fast without being at least 7,000 rpms?
