Question Check Coolant Light Problem

I cannot seem to figure out how to fix the sensor for my coolant system, because i know i have coolant in there and yet the sensor makes the CHECK COOLANT light come on, and i cannot seem to figure out why. i have played with it over and over, but its just annoying to see the light there.

ps. no im not going to just put some black tape over it.

yea try a new one, and check the connection to it. the clip could be busted and or the wire rusted away.

VB, $14.95 - just priced it last night. An extra $1.95 gets you the rubber O-ring if you're loaded with cash(!)

Good luck - quick and easy fix, and worth doing. The fastest way to kill a rotary is to let it run dry.

Ok if you take the radiator cap off, rev the engine and watch the coolant; it will go down. Rev the engine while adding coolant, enoguh to fill it to the top WHILE REVVED. This should fix it, if not your overflow tank could be under pressure, if there is a pressure leak AKA you ripped out the tank and didnt plug the hose, or the overflow is empty it will go on. If you still have the overflow go ahead and fill it half way to the top, trust me. If you dont have the overflow make sure the hose is clamped off, or plugged very good. HOpe that helps.

i hadn't checked the price on it, but yeah 14.95 is right on the money, im looking at the VB catalog myself. i thought it was more expensive. im thinking that this is something that can be easily fixed. now i gotta deal with my damn oil leak. that's what's killing me, and new brake rotors. o well. thanks for the help.

Did you ever find the solution to this problem?

I have had a similar problem as of late, and even after replacing the sensor with another one that I had out of my parts car I still have the problem.

What are the chances of two sensors in a row being bad?

Does anyone know the characteristic of the sensor functioning properly? (i.e., can I hook up a voltmeter or an ohmmeter- I presume an ohmmeter- from the lead to ground and get some specified value?)

I have a similar problem, only I don't have the sensor installed in the rad anymore. It's weird because grounding the wire doesn't seem to make a difference, but also because sometimes it goes out. Weirder still, it doesn't go out in an on off fashion, it prefers to fade in and out slowly.

I have a simalr problem. My light will come on and then the oil check light and then the Atl light. Headlights get dim at the same time. I took a look at the wiring diagrams and I think it is the voltage regulator going bad. Those three warning lights go through the Regulator.

You mean perhaps the regulator is grounding out?

How could this make them fade on and off at different times though?

My Regulator has one wire that has burned the insulation off of its self. This and the odd behavior Leads me to think it is the problem.

You could trace the sensor line to reg and then disconnect it. If you still get the probem then it has to be the reg or something in the dash.

If I recall the diagrams correctly, the regulator is required for any of those idiot lights to work....

If we disconnect the regulator, they should all go dead...

Check the wiring on that circuit?
