cheap turbo kit?

has anyone heard about or used these turbo kits that are selling on ebay? The link is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T4...item5adb8c0182

It seems that it's not a cheap china made turbo kit. I just can't believe the price. Obviously there are modification that need to be made, since it not 1st gen specific. any thoughts?

looks like a generic chineese turbo to me, but hey those chineese turbo's are like spark plugs sorta speak, cheap so if they're no good throw them away and get another one lol

Is that turbo actually appropriate for a rotary, though? Now, I'll be the first to admit I don't know anything about turbo sizing, but the specs on that one look a bit wrong to me.

The size should be fine. My friend has a real T04 on his 3S-GTE in his MK2 Mr2. Even untuned (runs pig rich) it hauls ***.

It might work fine but I've heard stories about cheap turbo impeller blades breaking off and being sucked into engines. Use at your own risk.

Cheap ends up being expensive.

If you want a good "cheap" turbo look at master power out of Brazil. Basic old school journal bearing garret type turbos.

the cheapest "turbo kit" costs about $1000 and you have to piece it together yourself, if you pay less then you are going to regret it.

and +1 for master power, i have installed 4 of them but the T70 is the old model, the T76 is where it's at! they're the cheapest(around $550USD) decent turbo still on the market or you can get a rebuild garrett for around the same price.

Bet you could find one of those old RayJay or Arkay kits for carbs and water injection pretty cheap sine they pre-dated ball bearing turbo's. Have not seen one of them running in years though....

What ever you do, no NOT use that wastegate, the diaphragm in it is un-reinforced silicone and likes to tear, which results in too much boost. A friend of mine lost a VW R32 engine to one of them.

As for best cheap turbos, check out SPA turbochargers, They're huge in Brazil on high-hp VWs. I personally know 4 people who use them, and have personally seen how well made they are. The bearings in them (7000 series turbos) are simply amazing for being non-ball bearing, they spin freer than most ball bearing turbos I've seen. And the noise they make is crazy awesome, they sounds like gas turbines spooling up.
