Cheap strut tower brace bar?

Cheapest bar I found on ebay for our 1st gens was $135. (was the only one I found as well)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RX-7-Whiteline-Strut-Tower-Braces-KSB608-/151306030090?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1985%7CModel%3ARX-7&hash=item233a8acc0a&vxp=mtr
Cheapest one for a honda is $20 shipped! And looks roughly the same...

Anyone know of any other more popular model strut tower braces are similar in length to the 1st gen? I can weld steel perches, just can't weld the alum bar itself.

Looking for a cheap solution, let me know if you have any.

Thanks!

Just my opinion, don't buy a cheap bar. I had a cheap ebay bar on my rx that did nothing. I could flex it with my hands. My respeed bar that I have now is much better quality and much stronger.

My only problem with buying a nice expensive bar is I will probably have to cut and weld on it to get it to fit my setup. Is the REspeed bar chromoly or steel of some sort?

Thanks for the input.

Somewhere on here Glazedham42 has templates for the tower plates. Then you just need a piece of angle iron to connect them.

The Re-Speed one is 4130 Chromoly tube. I have a brand new unused one I'd sell you.

Aside from the fact that we should be making it clear to newcomers not to send REspeed funds, Did your strut-brace come with left and right threads?
Mine came with two right hand threaded cleavises and was missing half the hardware. Took nearly half a year to arrive in the first place, this is about three year ago just before they went full blown thieving scumbags. (**** you Sam!)
Apart from that, yes its a good quality piece. (or would be if it had left and right thread)

In answer to OP, If you cant find a good 2nd hand strut bar like the one offered a few posts up, maybe look into using an FC brace. Apparently they go in with a bit of massaging.

I got one on ebay a few years ago for a 2G RX7 and just drilled the holes out slightly and it fit
fine and really help stiffen the front towers. So much so that now my windows rattle where
before they didn't.

Whiteline isn't bad I do believe there Australian and they have those trick quick release bolts develop in rally racing so you can work on the engine. But that 3 point one is trick!

Is it still available new from ether company?

This is very similar to what I bought a few years back. Just grind out the holes about 1MM and it
fits great.
