Changing Rear Pads & Rotors - 1983 GSL
OK I know I am a newbie and probably not the first newbie to try and change back pads and rotors on a 83 GSL. I won with the passengers side (although it was fun... everything seized). But how in the H... do you do the drivers side. I undo the bottom bolt, disconnect the Emg Brake Cable (the Tee at the end of the cable in the bracket) but when I attempo to lift the pad holder up the brake cable is to short to allow it more than an inch or so of movement. Ther is a bolt holding the bracket for the Emergency Brake cable but the is no way in H... you could ever take the darn thing out. ( I did manage on the passenger side though).
IS there some magical trick?
Thanks,
John

Do you mean the emergency brake cable or the brake line, if its the E brake, you'll need to undo the 14mm opposing nuts securing the cable to the bracket (the one you removed from the other side) to loosen the cable and then slide it out.
Did you take out the top caliper bolt? There are two.

Yep, same deal on the FD. On the FD, there's a tab on the pad that has to line up with the piston as well. Failure to do so will lock up your rear brakes, ask me how I found that one out. lol.
Looking at the pads for my GSL-SE rear, they have a little tab on them too. Haven't done those brakes yet, but imagine they're the same way.
