Whil done nicely, there is no doubt, the car has now been given a new character because all of that black has redefined the front end...just like Miata's used to smile and now they just say"oh"...the front-end done in black has done something to that 1stgen...squint your eyes and you'll realize it's a nerd...

In progress. We're just finishing the mold of the stock hood, then we have to modify it with the vents, then pull out a few prototypes to see how it holds up, etc.

Personally, I like cleaner look, would prefer to see a simplified version, there is too much going on on the front end.

$ 50.00 dollors a yard,, for carbon ?? you got burned..

$ 28.00 dollors a yard for carbon,, 36 x 50 of 5.8 oz a yard of 2x2 twill weave carbon cloth..

manntis, have you R & Ded how many layers of cloth for the top skin yet??? i'll save you some time.. your first idea of a sub-structure was right on the money and the best for strength and can be done using the sea-glass cloth. the top 'skin' use 1 layer of carbon cloth for the desired effect is enough..

I have finished the hood i'm making and just need to bond the top skin to the sub-structure,, i used wheel bearing grease as the release,,,cheap FYI

Well,

Whoever makes one I just want a basic straight cf hood (I like the looks of them as well as the weight savings) with a vent than that would be great!

Count me in as long as it's under $700 Shipped! (I need to know if the hood will be made so I know to save my money or not).

Thanks,
Eric

I hate to burst anyones bubble but look at some of my old threads. I tried to sell the cf hoods at $350 and had no takers! I built them with the stock mounting hinge points and used the factor hinges but you did have to use pins to hold it down. But, even at $350 no one would committ. The hood was much lighter, if you research my threads you can get all of the info on the hoods that a built. I have since closed my web site so you cant find it but you will see my stuff on cardomain.com. Anyway here is an old thread.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=carbon+hoods

I am using a new name because I cant remember my password and admin wont respond to my requests to get it changed!!! I have been off of the site for about a year, I built a new house, started a new company, and had a new baby!! Just now getting back into racing again

You just dissapeared. I was seriously going to order a hood and you were just gone. Now I'm broke and outta' a job I can't afford one, but if you make me one thats lighter than mantis' I'd still buy it from you.

I dont want to swipe mantis' thread. Right now I dont have time to build parts with the new company I have started. I am having a hard enough time getting my two 1st gens in race order I have alot of stuff ie. vented headlight covers, vented valances, vented hoods, etc. I will let everyone know if I get back into selling the parts.
