Cat tubing and 6 port actuator

So I have a question which seems to have multiple answers depending on with whom I speak.
My split air tube has broken off at the main cat.
I need to know, does this affect emissions greatly? Does this affect the 6port actuation in any way? What are the two hoses from the intake going into the check valve then on to the cat for? I assume the larger one is from the air pump, the smaller is...?

TIA,
Confused new used GSL-SE owner

Emissions will be affected "some" since the tube supplies additional air to the cat. If that tube has fallen off, your 5th and 6th ports WILL NOT WORK. These ports are opened by exhaust pressure. One of the hoses carries air to the cat. There is also a smaller one that goes to the acuators. this is what opens the 5th and 6th ports.

Stripgear is right. Go to a local exhaust shop and have them weld a new tube on if they can. (depending on were the tube acutually broke). Got any pics?

I know that the 5/6 ports won't work without the tubing (like everyone said), but you have some options. You could easily have a new one put on for a few bucks and a little convincing. Or you could hook your 5/6 ports to open with the pressure supplied by the airpump. I was doing this on my 88 for a long time and it worked really well. Not too tough to do either. Unfortunately, without that tube, your emissions will suffer a bit and I'll bet it sounds pretty ***-shitty with the exhaust leak. Maybe it's time for a race-pipe

Ok, thks for the info. I have to weld a new pipe on, we have emmisions testing here. I still don't see how the ports are not working though. When the intake boot is off, car not running, the ports are open.

You sure about that? The little thing that moves (the rod coming out of the actuator) moves down when the ports open. You should be able to push them down when the car is idling and hear a subtle change in the tone.

If you're sure they're open all the time, try pulling them closed (just work the hinge back and forth). Also, you could un-bolt the actuator (it's just two 10mm nuts) and clean them off the car.
