Casting your own bushings?

I am wondering if anyone has ever re-cast their own bushings before using this stuff:

McMaster-Carr

Specifically on the rear suspension links. I know you need soft rear suspension bushings for the rear to articulate but you can't get new (soft rubber) bushings except to buy the entire link from mazdatrix for a million dollars.

Thoughts?

Anone here familiar with rubber/urithane and this hardness scale they use? 20A-80A

Blah link didn't work but it's casting urithane. Or polyurithane bars for that matter!

The real question is, what is the durometer of the OEM bushings. I wish I still had access to the lab at college. I think I have a spare energy suspension bushing from a different car, and then we could get a OEM bushing and see how they compare.

If I was to just make a guess, I would go with the medium soft I think.

hmm i don't know what the durometer is, but softer than stock would probably be even better, although chewing gum probably wouldn't be strong enough.

otherwise you're need some big league chew...

If anyone can get me a piece of newish oem rubber, I would be glad to try and find someone who can tell me what the durometer is. From there it should be easy to make a copy.

Wow, that'd be something. A nice new set of OE bushings to tidy up the rear axle.
